Privacy Policy
What I collect, why, and how you stay in control. Short and in plain language. Last updated 3 November 2026.
Who is responsible
This website, thebijoy.com, is run by BijoY, a writer on technology, AI and education based in Denmark. I am the data controller for the information described here. You can reach me at contact@thebijoy.com.
What I collect and why
- Your email address if you subscribe to the newsletter. I use it to send you the weekly email and nothing else. The legal basis is your consent.
- Your name, email and message if you use the contact form. I use them to reply to you. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in answering your question.
- Technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, which the web host records in server logs to keep the site secure and working. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in running a safe website.
Cookies
The site only uses cookies that are needed for it to work, for example when a form is submitted or if I am logged in as the site owner. I do not use advertising cookies and I do not sell your data.
Who else handles your data
I use a few services to run the site. They process data on my behalf:
- Hostinger, which hosts the website and my business email.
- Google Fonts, which loads the typefaces. Your IP address is sent to Google when a page loads.
- Google Search Console, which gives me search statistics about the site. It does not track you personally on this site.
- Social platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook, if you follow a link from here. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave my site.
How long I keep it
Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact messages are kept as long as needed to deal with your question, and normally deleted within 12 months. Server logs are kept for a short period by the host.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to see the data I hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit how I use it, or move it. You can withdraw your consent at any time, and you can unsubscribe by emailing contact@thebijoy.com. If you are unhappy with how I handle your data, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet) at datatilsynet.dk.
Changes to this policy
If I change how I handle data, I will update this page and the date at the top.
